Funky Friday: Jordan Years @ Kinetic Playground, March 26th

The Jordan Years Kinetic PlaygroundSorry for the late notice, but The Jordan Years have a show this Friday.   We have been in the studio working on a bunch of new material that we will debut for you at The Kinetic Playground in Uptown this Friday night, March 26, 2010.

It’s exciting to be playing a regular Jordan Years show after so many “special shows” (Dre Day, NYE, Vinyl Record release).  But there is no such thing as a “regular Jordan Years show” because we will be breaking out a ton of new music for you, including some new compositions by our drummer, Joe Dorenbos.   We also have a new Roger tune, and one written by Wes and the group.

If you haven’t been to The Kinetic Playground before, you should really check it out.  It’s a re-opening of the psychedelic rock club that hosted famous bands in the 60’s and 70’s.  Back in the day, musicians such as Led ZeppelinThe WhoJanis JoplinThe Grateful DeadIron ButterflyJefferson Airplane and more played at Kinetic Playground…  The interior design of the club is very cool.  Definitely a fun space to check out live music.

Dusty Groove review of The Jordan Years “See the Light / Warm Me Up” 45

dglogo14“Tight-stepping soul from the Chicago scene — a surprisingly great bit of blue-eyed work from The Jordan Years, fronted by lead singer Wes Restless! Pitched the wrong way, the group might be a bar band gone wrong — but there’s a really solid feel to this record, one that grabs you right away with the tight keyboard lines at the start, then really gets sent home by Restless’ surprisingly strong vocal approach! Horns top things out nicely, and the single’s in a space somewhere between late 60s Memphis crossover, and the SF Fillmore scene.”
