West Town Recording is very excited to be a part of the return of the legendary New Orleans singer Theryl “Houseman” DeClouet!
The Houseman is back! The New Orleans legend and former lead singer of Galactic is back with a new Chicago-based group led by The Jordan Years keyboardist Michael Cole. Theryl “Houseman” DeClouet was featured on the first six Galactic albums (four original studio albums) and has two critically-acclaimed solo albums to his credit. Houseman left Galactic in 2004 due to health concerns and relocated to Chicago after Hurricane Katrina. Theryl and Cole became friends late in 2009 and started working on new music and putting together a new group in his new home town of Chicago. We are proud and excited to relaunch the Houseman’s career with a full-blown, authentic Mardi Gras show at Martyrs’ in Chicago. Tickets are on sale now for the show, which also features the horn-laden funk of Crystal Gravy.

WTR held a very exciting event tonight with the one and only Martin Atkins (Invisible Records, Public Image Limited, Pigface, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, etc. ). He came through WTR and spoke with a studio jam packed with the best artists in Chicago about getting our respective acts together. Very informative and there will be youtube vids to come of the night. Buy his book TOUR:SMART, it will save you money!

With the economy taking a nosedive we find ourselves surrounded by out of work friends and family. Here at WTR when we get thrown lemons, we host a Monday afternoon party. FUNemployment BBQ was just that, food and the unemployed. Ahh, I can still taste the victory!

Read the latest by Chicago Tribune music critic Greg Kot, RIPPED. What a fascinating story of the music industry and how fans, artists and labels alike adapted or neglected to throughout the mp3/internet generation. Great spotlights on Prince, Wilco, OK Go, Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Pitchfork, Napster, Apple, and so on. . .
For any fan of music this is definitely worth the $25.

Ah, it was 1 year ago today that myself, Mike Ryan and Roger Panella loaded up our backpacks with beer and headed down to Grant Park to witness/experience the Obama victory party. Congrats to America for electing President Obama, we sure did need some change after dumbass left office.
If you look close enough, I’m the one with the hair in the picture. . .

The subject says it all. We had a house full of ghosts, goblins, Octomoms and of course teabaggers. The Jordan Years acted as party band while Wes Restless, Ill Legit and Isis Rose switched off on the mic. Already planning 10/31/10, get your costumes ready!
