If you haven’t heard of Dre Day ’11, well you are probably too busy living in your parents basement sniffing glue. With that said, this Friday February 18th @ Chicago’s legendary venue Double Door, Dre Day ’11 will be popping off with The Jordan Years playing house band with a TON of special guests, The Opus, Mic Terror, DJs Intel, Big Once, TREW, KOOL HERSH, and The Comeups . This event is brought to you by the guys that brought Chicago: Mayer Hawthorne, Kings Go Forth, Wu Tang Clan, Mos Def, MF Doom, North Coast Festival, etc.

This is for the lovers out there who get the chocolates, flowers, dinner reservations, etc. . . You can never go wrong with Stevie Wonder as your soundtrack.

Fellas: If you have a special lady be sure to treat them right, open the door for her, tell her how beautiful she looks, take out the garbage before she asks, and yes you would love to see the new Sex in the City Movie.

Ladies: Your guy tries hard to be right by you, he just suffers from being a man, that’s all. Tell your man its OK that he was at my house making music til 4AM AGAIN,  it’s OK that he might have puked a little bit on himself in the cab home, but deep down inside you know that under his vomit stained hoodie and loud snoring that he really loves you.

Take it from me, I have been in great relationships and managed to screw them up.

I guess that’s why I’m living the single life!

Here it is Sunday afternoon and I successfully hid from the third group of hippies to knock on my door and suggest a candidate they are way too passionate about. This is quite hypocritical of me since I use to campaign for my Aunt Mary in Fox River Grove back in the day, judge me as you will.

It kind of hit me though, who should I vote for? I mean I am seriously all about Rahm, but what if I’m wrong? What if he is a douche that screws everything up? I like having my garbage picked up, police on the streets, city workers getting a nap on the clock, firemen having keggers while on duty. . . What if that all ends?

So this is what I ask of you.  . . Who should I vote for and why? Right now I plan on going Rahm Emanuel, but convince me otherwise. I have to be honest I like his star power, I like that he has a “take no shit” approach, he scares me in a good way.

Lets look at the top 5 candidates:

Rahm Emanuel – Front runner, most campaign cash, Barack Obama campaigning for him in a city that LOVES our President. He has his own fake twitter feed and fact page. I brushed shoulders with him once at the Modern Wing.

Gery Chico – Worked in City Hall as Mayor Daley’s Chief of Staff, was President of Chicago Public Schools, is endorsed by U.S. Representative Luis Guitierrez. As far as I know he has no fake twitter.

Carol Moseley Braun – First African American Woman elected to the United States Senate, ran for President in 2004 unsuccessfully, recently called another candidate a “crack head”, is so one with the people that I made more money than her the last few years.

Miguel Del Valle – Was elected the first Hispanic Senator in the Illinois General Assembly where he served for 20 years, appointed City Clerk by King Richard, grew up in Humboldt Park, was the first non-African American member of the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus, has a twitter account but no fake one that i know of.

Ed Bus – He will have the hardest run for Mayor considering he isn’t on the ballot, and his campaign slogan is “No Phones”. However his job platform is simple, if you know him or are related to him you automatically get a job. Sounds like I better go to the MAYOR ALDERMAN ED BUS VICTORY PARTY and introduce myself, I want to sleep in my truck while on the clock.

So really, who should I vote for Mayor of Chicago February 22nd and why?
