Song of the Day! “It Feels Good” Tony! Toni! Tone’!

It is Tuesday, you don’t want to be at work but you do want to feel good. Get into it, shake your arms around, smile at that bitch you hate on the job. Have fun with it.

Enjoy!

Song of the Day! Musiq Soulchild “Anything” feat. Swizz Beatz

The new Musiq Soulchild tune gets turned up every time it comes on the radio, can’t explain it, just know it happens. Take a listen and maybe it will happen to you too. . .

The official video (below) just went up today, I happen to be the 311th viewer, lets see if this tune takes off or not.

Girl I can tell you everything, you can ask me anything

Song of the Day! The Jive Turkeys “Get Down Santa”

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! Here’s a sweet little  chunk of  Christmas funk from The Jive Turkeys (Cincinnati, OH). Can you believe this was recorded and released in 2010!?!  Think I’ll be leaving  tequila and tamales out for Santa this year… He’s got to be sick of milk and cookies by now, right? Colemine Records has been consistently releasing some great records. Raise your eggnog and celebrate with friends, family and soul from Colemine Records! Down the hatch!

Song of the Day! RH Factor “Poetry” feat. Q-Tip & Erykah Badu

This is my kind of collaboration! Me’shell Ndegeocello on bass, Q-Tip on the intro, Erykah Badu on the outro and I haven’t even mentioned that beat yet! The RH Factor is one of the best collaborations of jazz, hip hop and soul artists, much love and respect to Roy Hargrove! I want to record something like this at WTR!!!

Enjoy your Thursday!

Song of the Day! Me’shell Ndedgeocello “Diggin’ You (like an old soul record)”

I just might have the best birthday party entertainment lined up. If all goes as last minute planned you just might hear this tune. . .

Song of the Day! Apocalypse Hoboken “All American”

Alright so normally I try and space out the Songs of the Day and do a week at a time or something, This week I happen to be behind schedule so at the end of the night after I have had a few two/tree beers I play catch up.  This particular Song of the Day goes out to Mr Todd Pot who at one time was uncool enough to be hanging around my ass on the regular. Brings me back to when Rocketship Arnold were the opening act for any random group coming to Fireside Bowl. . .

Oh yeah and I’m coming off the election deal so I feel All American. Tie-in bonus!

Song of the Day! Digital Underground “Humpty Dance”

I’m not sure why they blocked out the getting busy in a Burger King bathroom line, but times were different back then.

Its Hump Day! Time to party!

Song of the Day! Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings “How Long Do I Have to Wait For You”

Two for Tuesday edition featuring Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings

The original!

And now the remix!

There’s something about the guitar line in the original that just makes me happy, and on election day I need something to smile about. Lets just hope that all of those Tumblers do a good job at being Secretary of State, I didn’t realize a bunch of kids could do the job. Anyway, I’m sure you have heard Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings by now, they are funky and I like em a bunch. Enjoy!

Song of the Day! Sly & the Family Stone “Brave & Strong”

Brave & Strong is off my favorite Sly album “There’s a Riot Going On“, from production to songs to just general grooviness I love this album. The audio on this clip sucks to say the least.
